They ship to india alright but 100$ for shipping. that would be almost the price of another drive. Better get the drive here itself. I am using 2 x 250Gb hitachi and touch wood so far. The performance is also satisfactory.

Just bought a Hitachi 250GB SATA-II for 5.3k last week.

Not installed it yet, but comes with 5 years Indian warranty and well built too..

Five Year IIRC.

Excaliber sucks.

Their rates are usually higher. And Shipping costs are through the roof.

help decide please...
Also is the maxtor DM 10 worth a mention here?

Check out prime/comp selection/pc guide @ lamington road.

Well, SATA 2 uses upto 3.0gbps in bandwitdh. Max. Ofcourse, your drive has to support it.

While SATA allows max 150mBps

Thats to only notable diff.

Well Hitachi has 8MB buffer, WD has 16MB..

I trust Hitachi reliability a bit more and WD is about 0.7k cheaper..:)

@ Vandal - I think Delta should have it in stock.

Afaik, SATA I has max 150 MB/s and SATA II has 300. But when ur hard disk is not goin beyond 60 MB/s( 80 if u have a raptor) it dosent really make a difference. I dont know the specifics but i dont think there are any other notable differences.
