I am looking for a value for money entry level mouse pad, primarily for gaming// max budget - .5k..please suggest. I want to buy online

Is it necessary to use a mouse pad?I mean the area to move the mouse gets really limited,so hows that an advantage?

Good mouse pad help you(mouse) track better and accurately. Good mouse coupled with good mousepad gives you great control over mouse movement. This is extremely helpful in games especially FPS.

You might not notice any difference with cheap mousepad for normal usage, but you will get the difference when you are playing games against credible opponents.

Rantopad H1 / H3 depending on what games you play. I'll tell you get the Rantopad H3, very good performance and total value for money in a cheap package.

Lets put it in this sense, a better mouse for example Razer DeathAdder has a dpi / cpi rate of 3500 now if the surface like wood is used to track this, there is not enough detail to track the change and this leads to sluggish response, a proper mousepad serves two purposes -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mouse_dpi

1) It takes care that the mouse-glides (the plastic like thing you see on the base of most gaming mice) don't wear out to fast.
2) the mouse tracks properly and you get a crisp and accurate response to your mouse movement. This is dependent on which type of mat you use -- speed OR control and what type of games you play.

thanks guys..I am going with Razer Goliathus Fragged Speed Edition 499-/ from ebay

I prefer rubber bottom+cloth surface mousepad

You can also get QCK mini, its a great mouse pad. With the goliathus speed version, you will have the feeling that your mouse is skidding while firing in FPS games. I had the exact same problem when I shifted from QCK heavy to Goliathus speed. My suggestion is if you like awping, get the speed version but if you play assaulter mostly, get the control version.

Deathadder/MX 518/Kinzu/Ikari/Intelli all are great mouses and will do great with this mousepad. Just go to the shop and feel the grip of each of these mouses and then get the best for you.

:)

dude i am very much tempted with this deal in ebaybut the problem with kinzu is lack of extra button - which is the prime reason for me to getting a gaming mouse//fo far i like deathadder (lookwise) but mx518 seems better suited ( i hate logitech for putting matellic shiny part- i like the finishing of Kinzu)

As I have told earlier, grip the mouse, feel the comfort and then buy the mouse felt most suitable for you.

:)

All the mice I have mentioned are great ones. You wont regret after getting any one of those.

but how can i feel the grip without buying it,,as store will not have a live-demo piece
