Tried this on friend's card and works.
speed is low as 60-70kbps but works over android :)

i hope vfone kneels downs to proper data pricing soon.

Feel like you're paying through your nose? Want something cheaper? Here's a trick that Techtree reader Pranay from Hyderabad suggested to get even: SMS PORT Your Mobile Number to 1900. You will instantly get a unique Number Portability code.

Now, Vodafone supposedly gets alerted of your possible flight risk to another operator. Their representative should call you up, asking you why you want to switch. You tell him that their GPRS plans are too expensive and other operators are offering cheaper plans (not a lie, by the way). They'll offer you a Rs. 99 per month plan for 2GB of data. This is the same plan for which they would otherwise charge Rs. 299 when we last checked. A saving of Rs. 200 per month, straight up!

An acquaintance of mine also confirmed to get a call from them the same day he sent that Number Portability SMS, so this isn't some Internet rumor doing its rounds.

Its 98 for 2Gb for a month in TN. But they say Downloading is not inclusive. (i never got this point anyway)

Is this a diff plan incl of Downloading?

im talking about Vodafone Mobile connect which otherwise costs 299 to iphone/bb/android users
 
^ Yes its Rs 98 for 30 days in Chennai. :) Btw I got 4 GB data plan valid for 90 days for free when I did the same. ;)

@madnav : In Chennai, you can use the VMC (www APN) with the Rs 98 plan. :P
 
vodaphone in most other places except i think mumbai offers the 2gb/98 bucks plan as dual mode, ie you get VL and VMC. so I guess this makes more sense for the vodaphone users in Mumbai.

I am using the same from my 2gb/98 plan in kolkata
 
Woah ! This came in at the perfect time .I was about to buy a new Reliance GSM sim today only for net. Let's see if this Vodafone trick works for dealer numbers as well :P
 
^ You can very well download stuff, I guess the CC is saying about downloading the games/wallpapers etc from Vodafone Live! site.

it is fckin 299 here in mumbai.. damn vodafone

but im still not buying since the speed is ridiculously low rightnow.

im using vfone on a secondary phone as a rescue number when all others are down :P

I just saw Orange posters on a comparatively newly built mall here in vashi... wish they comeback... They had much more customer centric tariff of all times..

GPRS was 99 per month on orange about 6yrs ago...with free mms...good old days...

99 bucks for Edge 2.5GB/month

speeds are around 150kbps
 
Well I sent the port message over, got the number. I'm guessing VF will call me tomorrow to find out.

Else I'm switching to Airtel. Couldnt hurt to use another provider for 3 months.

vfone mumbai sucks bad for milking customers.
 
i think vodafone is good for postpaid plans who use it more for voice etc. that too more who call each and every other person in the PR industry. i saw one of theirs bill and it billed something in hte range of only 300 bucks.
