Google has acquired digital photo editing service Snapseed to compete against its rival Facebook's photo editing service Instagram .
Snapseed comes as a part of Nik Software which Google has acquired for an undisclosed amount .
Snapseed could be used to increase usage of Google Plus, a social networking alternative to Facebook.
Nik software's Snapseed is used by more than 9 million people on iOS and it was named application of the year in 2011 by Apple. Its currently available for iPhone , iPad and PC .
Its not available on Android yet but it is in development and should be released soon .
