Google acquires Sparrow to improve Gmail‎
A French startup behind email applications for Apple gadgets whose name is 'Sparrow' has been acquired by Google. Sparrow co founder and chief executive Dominique Leca also announced on Friday that the Paris based team will go to work on Gmail, Google's free Web-based email service. And will try to "accomplish a bigger version".
Sparrow email application for iOS had become became available for purchase in Apple's online App Store in March earlier this year, and the desktop version for Mac had been available since early 2011.
Last month Google had released Chrome browser for popular Apple devices built upon Safari's online capabilities also.
The application will still be found on iOS and mac for the time being, but Google might change it's mind in the foreseeable future.
