Google buying a hardware manufacturer is always a bad idea. See what it did to Motorola.
It was good for Google, Moto had tons of Patents which helped in avoiding lot of patent cases. It was bad for Motorola[DOUBLEPOST=1504854003][/DOUBLEPOST]
lol. if they buy, they will sell it to lenovo or another chinese company for loss after a year or two. i wonder if this is some new way to save tax.
Atleast Moto had tons of patents, can't say the same about HTC.

HTC's flagships phones have always been top-notch so I'm guessing it's either for hardware or for VR patents.

I'm not talking about Vive, they have patents for VR on their Android phones AFAIK. Could be something Google is interested in.

Or maybe they've realized that Samsung can't stand on their own with Tizen or whatever it's called and as such can't do jack if Google starts its own phone division.

Sorry for misunderstanding but is HTC's VR any special?
