Google Chrome issue - Crashes before starting

Charun

Level E
Until now Chrome was working fine, but suddenly dont know what happened

The issue is when i double click the chrome icon, the browser starts and is visible for a fraction of seconds and then nothing happens

I have Firefox also which works well.

I have done many things to make chrome work - Uninstall and reinstall, delete all the system files of chrome which is in LOCAL SETTINGS folder

I use Windows XP

Any solution ?

Im suspecting a plugin issue. Try starting Chrome with this switch "--safe-plugins". You need to run from a command line.

Also try starting Chrome in incognito mode with "--incognito" switch. If either of these 2 work then theres an issue with plugins/extensions.

heres what you gotta do -
1 Go to the Start menu > Run.

Type in either of the following directories in the text field ,and press OK.

Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data

Windows 7 or Windows Vista: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

Rename the folder called "Default" in the directory window to "Backup default."

enjoy if this fixes the issue.:bigok:

Did you do what #NinByChoice told you?

Also as #teche said, flash can also cause this issue.
When you go to chrome://plugins/ then if there are 2 entries beneath Shockwave flash then disable the one whose location is in any of the Google folders.

@NinByChoice - can you please explain in detail what to do, didnt understand :(

@teche - already did that 4-5 times

@puns - i have kaspersky, scanned the system, nothing found

@kestrel5915 - dint understand what ninbychoice told, i have also uninstalled adobe flash but still doesnt work, how to go to chrome://plugins/ ? chrome isnt starting at all, i also searched all visible as well as hidden Google folders but found nothing, using firerfox atm, its really a PITA :(

Uninstalled completely from your PC through your-uninstaller software and re-install it into your system, But do one more thing from regedit delete all crome related things and then install it, it will work fine.
