Firefox 4? Too furry. Internet Explorer 9? Too blue. Google's Chrome? Just the right amount of shine -- or is it? The company introduced a flat new logo for the browser and now that logo is gracing the software's latest stable release. Chrome 11 is now available, the biggest changes being a number of security and bug fixes, some of which "may be kept private until a majority of our users are up to date with the fix." The new version also delivers speech-to-text and, perhaps more importantly, text-to-speech.

Isn't the current version 12.0.725.0? At least that's the version number that my Chrome reports. What am I missing?

Its the Beta version.

There are three versions of Google Chrome - Dev, Beta and Stable build.
Dev channel is the Alpha version, the most cutting edge version. All new features which are being tried out are available in that version. Is a lot unstable.

Beta builds are a bit more stable than Dev but still. It has features which are almost sure to be included in the next stable build update.

The Stable build is the most stable :duh:
Crashes the least. It is the polished product.

You are using an old dev version... checkout this link: Google Chrome 11.0.696.57 - Final/ 12.0.742.9 Dev » Softexia - Update and Buy Software!. i would advice you to use Stable release ... :)
