My take:
With the pricing difference between US and India like this.. Google will never achieve section of Indian Smartphone users.
18,000 - 19,000 rupees difference. Chinese companies will continue to rule.. Google you lost it.

Really the pricing is not up to the mark. Its really disappointing. Both from google and apple.

Iphone x would be 89k here...for 1000 USD? they have their won exchange rates. And i know people will say taxes...but does US not have taxes? They also have import duties and sales taxes.....
 
India has 0% import duty on mobiles from past 2+ years. How do you think there are umpteen phone companies selling Chinese rebranded phones here?

yup. the govt only charges sales tax at 14.5%. Now its probably gst at 18%. They charge taxes at port so that companies don't fudge books and not pay full taxes later.
 
That's horrendous pricing....
Now google plays catchup with apple...

general public would always incline to apple as its looked as a status

I don't think so. To force companies to assemble/manufacture phones here, they either raised the import duty for fully manufactured phones or reduced the duty on components. So the chinese rebranded phone sellers are getting the knocked down kits and assembling them in India and people are chest thumping with "Made in India" lables!

Its very much there @10% was reduced from 19% to 10. The total still comes to around 17% CVD+basic duty+ACD+cess.

Had stopped importing phones son don't know much about the current import rates on phones.

But as per 6pack there in no import duty only sale tax or GST.
 
Looks like headed to another flop. Still looks ugly and the iphone 8 and s8 seem a better bet. Has no brand pull among majority.
