Google has taken a major move to integrate Web search and and personal search . Google is doing a "limited field trial" in which it will let some users get results from their Gmail accounts as well when searching on Google .

So when participating users search for “Amazon,” information from their own recent purchase confirmation emails will appear on the right rail. Or, a user could type “my flights” as a search query, and see — directly at the top of their search results — itineraries drawn from their flight confirmation emails.

So , when Gmail users who are logged in do a regular search on Google's main page , relevant e-mails will also be shown , if they contain word corresponding to the search .

Currently Google is testing the feature with just 1 million Gmail users .

I just hope this can be disabled. This absolutely sucks. I don't want people around me to see my mails when I am searching for something

Hmmm.... But this is valid only when you are logged into your Gmail account. Otherwise, its search as usual. So, what are the chances that other people can pull up contents from your emails?

Doesn't work that way , it searches your gmail account and not some one else. I am sure google is not that dumb to give you results of some one else's account.

When you search for something and that presents in your Gmail such results will be nice.

Lets see how this works.

Read that again sir.. "I don't want people around me to see my mails when I am searching for something"

Brilliant I must say. Just open chrome browser and search for your mail directly along with realted web search.

Excellent. And the scope is tied to the users gmail account. Nice. Now to find a mail, I do not need to log into gmail.

I am talking about my mails showing up when I search - there is a good possibility I might be surrounded by people when I do that

Yes, it obviously will work after logging in to Google account, and not necessariliy be in the Gmail.

Use Google Chrome's profiles feature. I usually have two profiles I have open on my computer. One work and one personal. Each profile uses different caches, settings, login/session information, etc. That way, when I need to work with someone on my computer, nothing from my search history shows up. :ghost:

Or hit Ctrl+Shift+N and search in incognito window.
