Google is killing the Google Reader service from 1st July 2013 which will be a part of its Spring Cleaning.

The new closures bring the total services stopped to 70 since first cleanup in 2011. The following services are being axed -
- Google Reader which gets content from subscribed websites usually by RSS feed.
- Google said that "While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has declined."
- Google Cloud Connect which is a plug-in that uploads MS Office files automatically to Google Drive on Windows PCs. Google Drive client does the same functionality so the plug-in is getting killed on April 30th.
- Google Building makers which lets users make 3D buildings for Google Earth and Google Maps is getting discontinued on 1st June.
- Google Voice App for BlackBerry will no longer receive support.
- Future updates to Snapseed Desktop for Macintosh and Windows are being stopped.
