To all the kind folks of TE,

Has anyone bought a GPD Win Max? If yes, how did you get one?

I am tempted to buy one on aliexpress. But I am pretty sure I will end up paying like 40% customs, that is if India allows me to shop from aliexpress.

So how does one get a nice handheld gaming laptop in India?

I have to travel for work and need to carry a laptop just to edit code on local servers which are isolated from the internet. This seems to be a cool tiny laptop plus console (help kill travel time) which can replace my travelling laptop

Would something like a Surface GO tablet be a suitable alternative?

Aliexpress isn't accepting orders from India atm.
Also buying an expensive no-name product without local warranty is a big no-no and those games are running @1200x800 without any mention of settings lol.
Buy a gaming laptop from MSI or Asus instead.

I have been following the GPD devices since release out of interest but practically it makes little sense. It has a low resolution screen with Iris Plus 940 GPU, cramped keyboard and noisy fans ejecting hot air from the back. Also the quality control from a lot of the Chinese OEMs is atrocious since they are not inclined to provide any after-sales support.

You are better off getting a small 2-in-1 instead or just get a tablet if you want to while away time while travelling.

I was very hesitant to purchase it, I guess I was hoping to hear that someone else may have found it useful.

I think I will consider Surface.
