gps on htc tattoo

Zeroing on this phone , just have a quick doubt

does the htc tattoo require a data connection to access gps?

If it has dedicated GPS chip then it won't require data plan....you have to install offline maps though...well specs says it has internal GPS antenna so i don't think it will require data plan

Remember, HTC Tattoo in India doesn't come with 3G. And I think Samsung Galaxy is a better phone overall and is available for same price and Spica is available for 13k-14k

wow that galaxy is nice ...does that GpS need data connx?

Samsung Galaxy = 128 mb RAM , no confirmed Android 2.0 update .

Tattoo - 256 mb RAM , confirmed Android 2.0 update .

i'd choose the former , GPS without a live connection would work on both provided there is an offline map application for Android .

You do require GPS for Google maps, unless you get another offline map application.
