Hi,
I have been facing a few problems with my rig and think it may be due to a problem with my GPU (HD4850) so am thinking of getting another GPU (at least would have a spare in case of emergencies if that is not the culprit).

Any suggestions for a GPU (haven't tried Nvidia as yet as was wondering if I should try that this time)? My budget is 10k or lesser.

TIA

How does the GTX 460 compare to this?

Ok. From what I read it seems the EVGA OC'ed GTX 460 is worth getting in comparision to the HD 6850 and that doesnt seem to be available in India.

Think I'll go with the HD 6850.

So, is 11.2 the lowest that I can get this at?

wait for a couple of months and the 6950/6970 and gtx560 would be out, of course they would be 15k+ but if they (6950 and gtx560) are around 15-16k and offer more performance than 460 or 6850 then go for it.. the new cards may also bring a price drop in the existing cards.. so gear up for a new GPU post new year..

if its very urgent then 6850 is the best in your choice (some 2-3% better than 460 1GB) Sapphire 6850 is 11.2k one and should be a good buy if GPU is damn urgent now..

Zotac Geforce GTX 460

If u have a strict 10k budget go for this card. (90% performance of HD6850 at 90% price)

I was about to tell him to get the 460 (favored it because of PhysX) but after checking the Dealer's section where the price was 12k, i thought 6850 is better in terms of pricing..

do you find any diff between smc and mediahome variants, expect for the zotac prod id, i find the rest same..ZT-40401-10P (smc) and ZT-40402-10P(mediahome), may be look at zotac site should solve the mystery..

sorry my mistake.. forgot that 768MB also exists..:) (SMC one)

I think the 1GB one would be a better choice as I don't really plan on upgrading later.

So its the HD 6850 for me (unless the GTX 460 is available somewhere for the same price). BTW does anyone know which one of the MSI R6850 OR the Sapphire HD 6850 would be a better choice?

Go for the Sapphire one. Its slightly cheaper(Rs.500 cheaper at 11.2k shipped from SMC). After Sales Service is also good (Aditya Infotech). To add to that Sapphire are ATI premium partners :D
