Is there a GPU cooler around like the HR03 plus for the G80? If so, could someone mention the names of such cooler?

HR03GTX is the word ......not sure whether available in retail yet or not....

I was looking to buy the EVGA GTX 280 but then came across a lot of users reporting throttling problems. Is this a bug, or an issue with all cards, or a one-off glitch?

Can anyone educate a bit further.

Thanks...I love my HR03 Plus/Ultima 90i and would definitely go TR again.

The card is nodoubt hot, and almost whoever has reported throttling has also benefitted with better case airflow....keeping the bottom slot empty is another way of improving the GPU temp....also throttling happens when the card reaches 105C. Also most of them who hit this temp. has done so while running furmark, this particular benchmark tool has the uncanny nature of burning up almost all the latest cards from both ATI/NV. Also even with NV increasing the fanspeed to around 50% helps reduce the temp. I guess an educated user from TE would not let these card hit the insane throttling temps.

Thanks for the subtle reminder ;)

Sorry, I meant any there, "I guess any educated user from TE would not let these card hit the insane throttling temps". What I meant here was that as soon as any experienced users from TE like yourself would see high temps. you would do the basic things like checking airflow, whether something is restricting fresh air to the card, putting MX2/AS to the GPU if needed, increasing fan speed etc. And thats all that is needed to maintain a healthy temp. to these card.

I would not recommend HR03GTX untill you are overclocking or you need silence by adding fans like scythe etc. on the GTX.

Well the throttling issue was not related to temps, it was a driver problem, overheating cards was another issue. The cards having the throttling problem used to downclock to 2d speeds in 3d mode. I had this happening in when my cards temp were in 60's. It was resolved with 177.79 drivers. The temp issue was noticed when the case flow was really bad. The GTX 280 doesn't need a third party cooler as long as the case has a decent air flow. When I was doing TRI SLI even while playing crysis for hours, the temps never crossed 80C. 74C is what I saw them going the highest. Also I usually keep the fan speed on 80% while gaming and it doesn't bother me cause I wear headphones. btw my cards are clocked on 725/14581350 :)

Peace man :) Absolutely no offense taken, just pulled your leg there.

Imax what are ambient room temps like? Cause I do not use an a/c ATM.

I usually dont have AC on always either, and the room temp would prolly be in high 20's. btw the weather here is just like Delhi, so if you know how its there, you can guess, how it would be without AC. Trust me you dont need any 3rd party cooler with the 280, btw what case do you have? Having a front intake fan in the cabby somewhere around the back of the card helps a lot in pushing out air from the system!

Yep, familiar with delhi temps. Just waiting for a 55nm GTX280 replacement now :ohyeah:
Man thats teasing, :P , even I'm hoping that it comes out soon, (before my step up window expires) and hopefully come out cheaper too!

Heh heh...merits of waiting.

Imagine going off PC gaming for 5 years or so and then re emerging buying the GTX880++ :P
4096 shader units, 2.8 GHz core. 0.02nm process
16 GB VRAM GDDR8 clocked at 64 GHz :P
