Hi

I brought the Samsung 2233SW today. Now, which graphic card should i go for that can do justice to its HD features?

Is Palit 9600GT 512MB good enough?

Please advice

Thanks

9600gt will be fine if want to just see hd films but for games need atleast hd4870 9k give your full config with the psu and if you will be playing any games
so that we can advise batter

Updating my entire rig. the current set-up is hopelessly outdated.

Will use primarily for HD movies/downloading/gaming. in that order. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so can compromise a bit on the GPU.

DVI ~= HDMI , The signal used in both is same, the only difference lies in the cable used and the clutter.

For the S2233SW 9600Gt will suffice HDmovies, downloading. However if you intend to play games @ 1080p then you should consider a high end card like GTX260 or upcoming Evergreen.

Since I'm upgrading my entire rig, can you give me a few options?

I'll use the set-up primarily for HD movies. I don't really mind if the games aren't in HD. But would like to have that option too.

HD4870 @ 9k will suffice your needs but as you aren't a hardcore gamer then u can even consider GTS250 @ 7.3k or HD4850 @ 6.6k to save few bucks, but you'll need to compromise a bit while playing games..though it'll fulfill all other needs of yours..don't forget to get a good PSU for any of these card..

used to be a hardcore gamer 10 years back, when a Matrox G200 was enough for anything :)

Do i have any options for around 5k that lets me watch movies in HD and supports every game out there, even if the resolution's compromised a bit.

9600GT will cost around 4.5K
advised 4670 because of lower power consumption at idle..

otherwise 9600GT will make better option.

If you are getting a decent psu, ie. 380-400 watts or more of power from a high end brand then i would suggest going for the 9600GT as it is a hands down winner against the 4670.

isn't the 9600gt power hungry? Also, can i live without the psu?
