heres the email from Uncle Wilson@Jaben Spore

<Edited on Request>

i chose SR60 over Senn HD485.

a headdphone would obviously shine with amps, but from what ive read SR60 wont need it. SR80 needs it. and MS-1(which is modded SR80) would not need it much.

Also im thinking of getting Sennheiser 414 Pads as well to go with either SR60 or MS-1 whichever i get.

i must say MS-1 would be really like pushing my budget, but i would go for it if i should.

S$1 = Rs 26 i think.

you think he is overcharging ?

Alessandro MS-1 sounds way way more refined than the SR60. Its an excellent can and slightly more comfortable than the SR60. It works without amping but really shines when amped.

^ I've heard the MS-1's outstanding cans for the price. They work real well with rock, low-end was a bit disappointing but maybe amping will help!

Btw, they have a 50-60 hour break-in (atleast my friend's pair did) so don't jump to conclusions when it arrives :P

^ Which means they'll reproduce sound optimally only after they are played for about 50-60 hours which means the drivers can "settle in" or "break in"

^ He means they break after 50~60 hours.

Hehe just kidding

Break-in is basically using/running the headphones for a while before they start to reach their optimal performance. Fresh out of the factory they usually dont sound too great.. but with use, the drivers tend to loosen up and gain their intended characteristics. Break-in is an ever happening process, but the biggest changes happen only during the first 50 odd hours or so.

Edit: Anish beat me to it :D

@Eddy --- I went to that Alessandro site....

the email address given for contacting them is hounddogcorp@verizon.net or hounddogcorp@msn.com

Are you sure this is the official site ??

Is it safe to trust them ??

I might be interested in buying a pair of MS-1s.

The MS-1 is trhe Music Series One itself right ?? No difference ?? How will it work with a normal music player (like an ipod shuffle) ?? No amping....

Weird about the e-mail ID ! Just to confirm, came up with this : GRADO/ALESSANDRO INFORMATION CENTRAL. - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio . So looks like it is the correct site alright :D

Yes MS-1 = Music Series One. Its supposed to be good enough with an amp.. impedance is only 32 ohms, but does benefit from being amped.

you mean good enough without an amp :P ??

Another thing, any other way I can get the Grado SR-60s in India ?? shipping and whatever for less than 4K ?

@ Nikhil - Will certainly work with the shuffle, no issues but they might not be able to reproduce the full spectrum as brightly or tightly as they should ;)

Btw, you had a iPod Photo right? That'll sound a lot better.

These cans are best meant for a source (Usually CD player / Turntable) with a phono stage or a regular source (Normal CD player or your PC soundcard) connected to a headphone amp.

@ Nikhil - Try KMD, he has a SR60 GO on at [E] :)

Edit : Nikhil, go quick, great price, one piece left!

The 1st gen shuffle amp stage uses a push-pull transistor configuration which supposedly was better than the rest of the apple ipod lineup?

He's got a second gen shuffle.

anyway, 2 options right now.

Grado SR-60 (4.2K)

MS-1 (4.1K).

Which is better ??

Conditions:

No amplifier. Mainly will be used with onboard sound (Realtek whatever on 865 mobo) and ipod shuffle 2nd gen.

what do I choose ??

heyyy Grado SR60 is definately not 4.2k

MS-1 much better than SR60 i think. Cos SR60 is more like pre amped or tuned for rock. while MS-1 tends to be more neutral. I prefer a more neutral headphone, would love to hear the details of the same songs which i didnt notice all these years.

MS-1 is modded SR80.

I am getting it for 4.2K yaar...someone else.

And yes, I am aware of all that :). Thanks for confirming it though :)

Hi guys,

This is my first post in this forum. I just contacted with MS-1 Alessandro company to buy this headphone. Do you know if they work ok with a Computer? I do not have an exterior sound card, just a regular Mac computer.

I have a Sennheiseer wireless which is really confortable for walking around the house but the sound quality is not top. I wanted to check those MS-1 but it wanna know if money well spent considering i will mostly use it with a computer.

Thanks for any info!

Cheers,
Sebastian
