Graphic Cards graphic card for 7k

hi everyone..need suggestions for buying a graphic card for my system.

system specs:-

mobo - Intel D101GGC

processor - Intel Pentium D @ 3.2GHz

ram - 2GB DDR SDRAM

psu - Frontech 400W

budget arnd 7K..will my system support 8800GT 512MB DDR3 ??

i'm thinking of going with 8600GT but if my system supports 8800GT i'll go for it.Plz do mention about bottleneck issues if there are any chances of them.

plz reply !!

Get the ATi Radeon HD 4770 which has just been launched. It will be faster and more power-friendly than the 8800gt.

thx for the reply..but will it work fine with my specs or will there be any bottleneck issues ??

this is just a temporary upgrade for 3 or 4 months..so once i spend on this card i don't want to spend any more on this system..i'll b going for full system upgrade in sept/oct !!

since i cnt c ur PSU details i wud say if u hv local grneric PSU better change it n buy a reputed 1 coz dat processor is one hell of a power eater.......

Not too many games will be bottlenecked by a 3.2GHz dual core processor, and would be more sensitive to the graphics card. There would be exceptions, but I suggest the HD4770 anyway, as there is quite a lot of difference between it and the 8600GT.

If its temporary then go for 8600 GDDR3@3K... You can sell this after 3-4 months when upgrading and go for bigger, better GPU....

agree with karthi

for starting go with the 8600 and when u actually wanna go for higher resolution or heavy games just upgrade to a better card

i wont recommend nything above 4670 in terms of pwr consumtion...

IMO-

spend 3.1k - corsair cx400

spend 4.2k - hd4670

then later u may shift to 8800gt or hd4850 or hd4870 w/o changing ur psu.

(yes cx400 can Easily handle a quad-core with hd 4870 + fans + hdds)

currenty ur frontech 400w is a PoS which wont handle the 8600gt ddr3 n u may end up destroying ur card or hdds.

+1

considering you are using a medium resolution 1024*768

+1 to this suggestion

No need to think 2wice...just buy HD 4770 and tagan 500 w psu...or if u're going to upgrade later then there is no point to waste money on gpu for 4-5 months...and to clear ur doubt...ur proccy will not bottleneck the gpu...get it with confidence...!

Get a 4770 now, get one more later! The 4770 Crossfire is going to beat the GTX285 pretty easy. And it'll cost you less than 13k! The MSI 4770 is available now with mediahome for 6.5k. Go go go!

I totally agree with karthik.... if it s a temporary upgrade then go for the 8600.... cause ur MB supports only pcie X16 and not the 2.0 version cards.... it s not that 2.0 wont work but it wont have a full performance output.... 8800GT is a 2.0 card.... so take a call now....

^^+1 totally agree with Iqx....get a HD 4770 now and buy one more later...and crossfire both....this is the best idea ! and so buy Tagan 600W instead of 500W to be future proof.
