I'm planning to go.

How many days is enough?

I am keenly interested in history but cant make this a very long trip as my dad will be accompanying me.

Two options.

1). Stay in Greece for 3/4 days and then return to Frankfurt where my dad will fly back and I spend another 3/4 days in Germany.

2). Only dad returns to Frankfurt to take a flight back to B'lore while I stay on in Greece for another 4 days. Making a total of one week.

btw, if you are going to germany, it means you have a shengen and you may visit the other countries nearby(especially go to amsterdam )

You will get a schengen visa.

make sure you get a multiple entry schengen visa so you can travel to different countries, might cost more than double entry or single entry.
