First time posting here. I need some help with the thunderbolt interface.
Here's what I need help with.

I have an Alienware 17R3 with GTX 980M and Thunderbolt 3 port.

Now, this laptop does not support G Sync on the built in display. And I want to buy an external monitor before putting some money into buying a graphics card for the amplifier.

Is there a way that I can connect;
- This laptop with via Thunderbolt 3 port
- To displayport 1.2 of a G Sync monitor (like Predator X34)
- And enable the G Sync on the monitor
- Also over clock the refresh rate at 100Hz

Please let me know if I can do that.

Did you ever find an answer? I am in the exact same boat. I have an Acer Predator X34 and am wondering how to connect my new razor blade to it.
The Razer has a full sized HDMI out, but G-Sync/100hz on the Acer only works over displayport.

I know there's TB3 to Displayport adapters now but wonder if they will actually function to make G-Sync work.
