Hi Guys,

I installed GTA4 on my Windows 7 PC and it worked like a charm. Sometime later it started running with milli second breaks. :P

I thought this could be because i installed Kaspersky. So i even disabled the antivirus and then played but it didnt work. So i installed GTA4 again but that too didnt help.

I then installed Windows 7 all over again and then installed GTA4 with my earlier antivirus NOD32. But this too isnt helping. What do i do??

Consider Defragmenting your HDD.

If this doesn't work, try reducing some GFX settings particularly like shadows and texture quality.

You once ran it smoothly coz the weather in the game was bright. As the weather tends to be cloudy/rainy/foggy then it begins to stutter.

Ive been playing it on my 8800GT @ 1186*768 but no matter how much i lower the quality it stutters at the above mentioned situations and the quality setings on nvidia ctrl panel is already tweaked for max performance and all eye candies turned off.

btw which proccy u have? heart it depends largely on proccy.

@ aladdin

Do post back on what worked for you , re-installed the game a couple of weeks ago due to a hdd crash and had the same problem.

No man, i checked with all whether cheats. And anyway i like playing in bright weather but it still stutters :(
My Processor is E6550 @ 2.4 GHz. If it had been this issue, it couldnt have ran smooth earlier.

I will post back late midnight. :)

I have original game but used razr 1901 since i cant bear the hassle of logging in everytime.

have u lowered the view distance? texture quality.

I had no stuttering whatsoever @ medium settings on 8800gts+ 720BE @ 3.0 + 2gb ram

but when i removed 1 gb...........it was like a half filled drawing couldnt play at all.

i think CPu is the culprit for me

i play on X2 @ 2.7Ghz, 3GB DDR2@ 940Mhz, 8800GT 512 etc.

will try the same on X3 8750 @ 2.4Ghz, 3GB DDR2 and my new 4870/old 8800GT after i get my new mobo tomorrow.

seeing yours, i feel proud :D

The BIG difference is that mine is a 1 GIG card and urs is 512 mb :p

@OP

lower the texture quality to low.....it alone consumes lot of GPU mem(50mb i guess @ tht res)

and also hogs CPu which is a bottleneck

You have to understand that the benchmarking method of GTA IV if pretty much useless. It doesn't provide you an accurate projection of the frame rates you would achieve during the game. It's just rendered for one particular scene or so. The changes during the game decides how stable the frame rates are at any given point. So don't blindly count on the benchmarks.

No offense, but even though it has lower GPU main memory, it's way ahead of your card in all terms. ;)

totally agree man, but when i play gtaiv (and gtaiv only), the memory usage is like 964mb, so i guess a 512mb 4870 cant do that (only in gtaiv cause of low memory).
