I am planning to buy a new gaming computer....
Please suggest a good graphic card within the range of Rs.10,000
I'll be using a 19" LCD screen...
Which will be better...ati or nvidia??

ATI HD 4870 512mb would a good choice, so would Nvidia GTX 260 (216). I think Nvidia solution is a lil faster, if you get a 4870 1GB at that price, it would be the best buy.

ive used both gtx 260 and hd 4870 1 gb.
id say buy 4870 1 gb. im regretting selling mine for a gtx 260. the image quality is far better on ati though it maybe a few fps down in some games. that hardly makes a difference though. if a game is playable on gtx 260, it is so on 4870.
it comes down to image quality in the end.

For a 19" screen both GTX 260 c216 & HD4870 would be overkill.

Regarding your question GTS 250/HD4850/9800GTX+/HD4770, I'd say keep your choices between GTS 250 or HD4850.

However, it's important if you mentioned what PSU you have or plan on buying. It matters a lot.

u din't mention ur PSU..if u have good PSU then u can look for GTX260 216..it'll serve u even when u'll upgrade your monitor..according to 19" monitor GTS250 ~ 7.3k is best choice

HD 4850/ 9800gtx+ /GTS 250............HD4870/GTX 260 would be overkill for the monitor

A highly overclocked GTS 250/9800gtx+ would be sufficient

Why nobody talk about HD4770, which I am planning to buy :)

Is it too inferior to other models?

anand

HD4770 is a good performer but its no longer a value for money product as in price its competing with GTS250 but in performance its inferior to GTS250..& also its not an easy task to find an HD4770 in market :hap5::p

I wont go for HD4870 or GTS260 because of the high price tag..

I am still confused between a GTS250 and HD4850...

but I am a li'l bit inclined towards Zotac GTS250 AMP edition because
1. it is an overclocked version of the basic card and has 1gb ddr3 memory
2. its cheaper (about rs.10,500)
3. its nvidia!!

Should I go with it or the sapphire 4850 1gb ddr3 (rs.12,000 !!!)
Regarding the psu...I building a new pc guys...please suggest that too....:cool2:

Are you kidding ??? :O

You are ready to spend 100.5k for a 1GB 4850 and not a mere 9.5k for a 4870 512MB. Or a GTX 260 MSI twin frozer edition costs about 11.5k.

For PSU, get a VX450.

Good god. 10k cash. Go for 4870. But you're resolution isn't going to use the full power of the card. You can get 4870 under 10k,where do you live?
