I got the following spec yesterday for my friend

AMD ATHLON II x4 635

Zion 4GB DDR3 at 1333MHZ

Asus m4N 68T-M mobo

Sparkle GTX 460 768MB

FSP II SAGA 500W smps

apc 300w smps

Windows 7 32bit

stock forceware driver came with GPU

Allmost all games are stuck.when he tried to play crysis,AC2 at 1920x1080.he cant even move the curser

what will be the problem.

is that a driver issue or what.?

Is this smps enough for the rig?

Need help urgently.

he tried direct powersupply without using the UPS.

so i guess nothing wrong with the UPS

That could remotely be related to these symptoms IMO. It could be more of a driver (GPU perhaps) issue.

Uninstall the stock firmware and install the most recent Forceware driver - http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/258.96/258.96_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_english_whql.exe

Could you run few other benchmarks such as FurMark/3D Mark '06/3D Mark Vantage to see if the system BSODs or crashes?

That said, SMPS is pretty much sufficient for the system.

Are you using two SMPS!!!.

APC one must be the UPS. Your system's draw during gaming should be around 350W from the mains, this might have overloaded your UPS which in turn can harm your SMPS.

It can even be your mobo's bios fault, check whether your GFX i working @ 16x using GPU-Z. Next step check the GFX card as explained by Desecrator. If nothing helps stress memory & GPU using OCCT for 15 mins.

Also check your mains for sparking as it causes lag for your mouse cursor which may even get stuck sometimes.

yes....no the fact is that...

he s kinda noob in computers...

I wanted to ask him to install the new driver.

he is 200km away from my home.

so i will go to his home mrw.n sort it out.

before that iwa nted to get some expert opinion .:D

there is no rebooot or BSOds i guess.....

i think this will be a driver issue only

As the Desecrator, mentioned highly probable that it is the Forceware issue. Download the latest drivers. While you are at it, also update the boards chipsets drivers, latest Dx11 and set the Windows Update to automatic -- so it all auto-patches. You should be good to game.

Enjoy.

Before you try furmark try the latest drivers..258.96 i think.. and if that doesn't work i say try the beta drivers and perform a clean install by selecting perform clean install. The beta 260.6 sorted out a whole lot of issues for me with BC2 .. although crysis was never a problem...

If that doesn't work.. try furmark :)

cheers and kind regards :)
