Hey guys as the name suggests which is better and the cost of the them both ? i was checking out vapor-x edition of 6870 is it worth spending xtra on Vapor-x ?

HD6870 would cost under 12k AFAIK. Best deal according to me.

HD6950 would cost more towards 15k.

But I think HD6870 is an excellent deal.

donno why everyone recommends something "a bit costlier" than what the OP asks for :-)

Get the 465 GTX,it can be unlocked and transformed into a 470 GTX which still holds a market share of 17000 rs and also If overclocked within it's thermal limits it nearly beats a 570 GTX which is 21000 RS.

No comparison. GTX 460 is btw a 5830 and 5850. 6850 is comparable to a 5850 and a 6870 is better than both. 6870 and 460 don't compare.

why would anyone want to bother with a stove? gf100 is notorious for that

about the unlocking part, its only possible with MSI GTX465 Lightning gold edition and depends on luck

for 12k HD6870 is the best deal IMO

and the reason why people are suggesting 6950 over 6870 is due to the fact that 6950 and 6870 have the same TDP (almost same power requirements)

and can also be unlocked to a 6970 (if you get a 1st gen 6950 that is)

well right now i m considering 2 options...6870 and 6950...for me right now 6870 sounds like a better option....as im limited by the resolution of my 22" monitor....

It's simple.

If you're buying stock 6870, you're getting yourself a good deal. Stick with it.

If you're buying 6870 Vapor-X edition, might as well spend a little extra and get 6950 1GB. The difference between the two isn't much.

6950 can be considered as bit overkill for 22" monitor as 6870 can easily handle the resolution. But it's still a great option if you're spending that much. I know, cause I recently bought 6950 1GB and even I'm on 22" monitor. I'm pretty sure 6870 would have sufficed, but there's just something about playing everything set to high with 4x or 8x AA at native resolution. :ohyeah:

dude i am in the same dilemma as now you are
and when i get to the shop
6870-11.2k
6950 2gb-15k
" 1gb-14k
and i don't think 6950 worth that extra bucks over 6870 with about sum 10-15% performance increase.

so if you are having a budget
try to look at asus 5870-12.5k

if you live in delhi i can suggest you a shop...

HD6870 is the best bet as I said. Unbeatable VFM after its price dropped. previously it was HD6850

bro the best option is 6950 ..then gtx 460 and then 6870 ..as i have used all three ..6950 awesome card with insane oc headroom ..then gtx 460 good card with great oc capability ..then 6870 with little oc capability...
