I have a Zotac GTX 550 Ti that I bought a few months back. I wanted to know whether it will be possible to run next-gen games using this card or will I have to upgrade? The games that I am looking into are primarily Assassin's Creed 4, GTA V, Watch Dogs and the like.
The rest of the rig will be upgraded as it is quite old, so if the card is capable, could you please suggest CPU, Mobo & PSU to use along with it?

Thanks for letting me know.
My primary question is whether the GTX 550 Ti be able to run next-gen games regardless of the rig.

The remaining answers are as follows:

You can sell the DDR2 ram and the GTX550ti. this will fetch another 8k (not sure of prices). then you can get this:

FX 6300 (7300)
Gigabyte 970A DS3 (5100)
G.Skill ripijawsX 1600 MHz 4 GB (2400)
WD Blue 500 GB (3000)
Zotac GTX650ti boost (13500)
Seasonic S12II 520W (4200)
NZXT Gamma (2500)
Dell S2240L (8800)
Logitech MK200 (800)

total: 47200

I suggest a different route , look to get a decent intel setup i5 and 8gb ram doesnt need to be K just the best you can afford. My friend games on a 550 non ti 1080p , settings have to be toned down but it still runs full hd. After your board cpu get a gpu upgrade later.

So imo getting new cpu 8gb ram will be great for you atm.

FX 6300 performs very well in games when paired with a good gpu nad the money saved on CPu can be used to purchase a more capable gpu which matters most when it comes to gaming - FX 6300+GTX 650 Ti boost combo offers better performance compared to I5 4xxx + GTX 550 Ti / 560 but you are right about 8GB ram though more ram can be added anytime later. One more thing I would like to mention is there's no GTX 550 [ non Ti ] AFAIK.

in my opinion it would be capable of running the games u mentioned in low to mid range settings.. but if u are looking for ultra with 60fps then better upgrade..
