Graphic Cards gtx 970 or 480 (4 gb)

Hey guys :) kinda new here and saw a similar thread to mine thats why I had to sign up and ask for this :p so I currently have a core i5 2400 stock, Intel DH61WW Mobo and 8GB DDR3 Ram. I need to buy a graphic card now so I'm looking at a gtx 970, gtx 480 (4gb) or even a 470 would do if it can get me 60+ fps in AAA games in high details. what do you guys suggest...I'm going to be playing on 1336x768 for a few months before I upgrade to a LED so
 
I would suggest getting the gtx 1060 6gb version. Its equivalent if not greater than 480. It runs cooler, needs less power. Enough headroom if you wanna upgrade your monitor someday to 1080p. Lastly someone here or in a different forum is selling an msi gtx 1060 6gb single fan version for ~18k. 1 month old. Will send you the link via pm. Check that out. I think that will be way better than 970 or 470.
*note i have 2 970s running smooth till date but if i were to buy a new one i would have gone for 1060.. Would stay away from red counterpart. As they run very hot from my past experience. Cant say about 480 as i havent tested it personally. Hope it helps. Good luck..
 
thanks for your guidance :) what do you think about my processor mobo is it enough ? because I kinda have a limited budget right now to only get a new gpu
 
Red team is strong in dx12 so if you can get RX 480 then its a great card you can check out reviews and benchmarks too.
 
rx480 and gtx 1060 are supposed to rival gtx 980 and are miles ahead of 970

Now, Coming to 1060 vs RX480,

RX480 is far better due to crossfire, miles better overclocking and Miles better PCB build quality, which allows for liquid cooling too.

also Overclocking Will not void Your warranty unless you Liquid Cool or Bios mod you GPU

are you talking about the 3gb and 4gb versions of those respected cards? :o because WOW. 980 is something man

Get the Sapphire RX470 8GB Nitro+ OC @ 20500 since it's 93℅ the performance of RX480 8GB.

what do you mean???
1060 is supposed to replace Gtx 980
1070 = 980ti
1080= titan
and yes the performance is actually equal,so if u think 980 is faster than 1070 or 1060 then u are wrong,very wrong.

No, the 3gb variant is a cut-down chip and has fewer cuda cores (1152 vs 1280) than the 6gb variant. consequently its slightly slower.
Given the price difference between the two, the 6gb version is better value.
in fact, most reviews these days point out that anything less than 4gb will be insufficient for upcoming aaa titles.
 
Get the RX 480 4gb or 8gb version right now..
Going forward RX 480 will perform better than the 1060 in new games..
Even though the 1060 overclocks better, I would bet that with better driver optimizations, the RX 480 will lead in the newer DX 12 games..
Get the HIS or XFX or Sapphire RX 480.. they run a lot cooler.. Stay away from the gigabyte 480, it runs too hot..
 
Go with the 480/470. There was a noticeable gap between the 480 and the 1060 when they were new but that no longer seems to be the case according to comparisons done towards the end of 2016.

Its well known that Amd cards age better. Just google Amd fine wine technology and you'll get the technical explanation. The 480/470 should get even better.

Another reason for going Amd is Freesync. Since you'll be upgrading your monitor, you can pick up a Freesync monitor for far, far cheaper than a Gsync one. That alone is worth going Amd.

If you are going Nvidia, at least get a 1060. Dont go with the 970 unless you are getting it used for rather cheap.

rx470 is overpriced, gtx 1060 3gb sells for the same price, So basically RX480>Gtx 1060 3gb>RX470
 
Ain't sure but the bottleneck will be there in very limited scenarios and won't be that noticeable.
So you are good to go..
