Hi folks,

I m planning for yet another upgrade, this time going along GTX275 way. But major concern in my mind is PSU upgrade. Want u to give suggestion on whether PSU upgrade is damn important n mandatory in my case or not. Help is highly appreciated.

Post current rig details please.
Also, mentioning gaming resolution/display size will be a plus.

^^ Dual Core AMD Proccy, 2 HDDs and display size is 22" Full HD and resolution at play will be 1920x1080(native).

the VX450W will run the GTX 275 but the thing is it'll be better if u can get a higher wattage psu.ur future upgrades will be a little limited iwth the VX450W.
hav run my GTX 275 with a CM 600W (Extreme power) so theres no question why the VX450W wont run it.

upgrade ur proccy m8.it'll be a huge bottleneck for the GTX 275.getting gr8 perf from my GTX 275 with the E8400 @ 4.25GHz which i didnt get when i had my E5200 @ 3.6GHz.

GTX 275 is not really an upgrade if you already have a 260. It's always wise to upgrade to cards atleast 2 tiers higher in performance. Besides the 260 should handle all your 22inch gaming duties paired with a good processor.
My suggestion:-
Upgrade CPU/CPU+Mobo.

You do not require a new GPU mate. Just get a new CPU and upgrade the PSU as of now.

Cooler Master 700W + E8400 will be a good option.

i think GTX-275 with a VX-450 is a really bad idea ,its like giving a puppy dog poison:no:
**why dont u go for the 260 and once that is over clocked it will beat the
275 or some times even the 280(not OCed)
**and the 275 even if it runs it will have no head room to be over clocked
**260oc will be good enough for ur 22 at 1980x1020
**GTX-260 has 2 versions the new and the old ,new is 55nm & 216cores or
somthing the old versions is 65nm & 192cores or somthing
55nm has less heat dissipation and less heat dissipated has more room for OCing
**acutually the new version should be named the GTX-265 but for some
reason it is still called GTX-260 but with the 216 after it
**GTX-260 needs 36A on the +12V rails,u have 33A on ur +12V single
rail ,but if u ask some TE members they will tell u that it 450 can do it
**the 275 and 260 have less difference in performance and more in cost
and adding a new psu for the 275 that makes the cost difference a lot
with almost no difference in peformance
ne way its ur choice ur money
u r the 1 to make up ur mind so best of luck on that buddy:hap2:

i diasagree with that

VX 450 is really more than enough. Just read the hardwaresecrets review of VX450's load testing and overloading. It can produce max of 44A on 12v rail at overloaded condition, still temps and noise is more than acceptable, and working at 80+ efficient on 127% load, which is 570W. In extreme overloading, the PSU just wont start....nothin ll ever explode or burnout unlike other PSU's like CM EP series. its got active PFC and lot other features at its core.

U can also consider Glacialtech 600 for 4.8k, which is almost as good as the VX, just that it uses caps @ 80c [like most other premium PSUs], while corsair modified the seasonic OEM circuit and caps with caps rated at 110c. Nothin to worry, PSU temps never gonna get past 80c, ever.

so my choice will be glacialtech 600[4.8k]>VX 450[4.2k]

badly, Antec EA650 SLI isnt available now, which was for 4.8k too and a seasonic OEM, just like VX.

and ofcourse if u are upgrading fro GTX 260 Sp 216 to GTX 275, its cannot be called an "upgrade" . Just some 10~15% improvement isnt justified considering GTX 275 price and current old GTX 260's selling price.

ok i was unaware of that review ,cool to know that vx450 can run on 570w
any idea if the 275 can be over clocked to its max on a VX450 what would be the aproximate efficience at that piont????????
i have a 4580 now do u think i can upgrade it to a GTX-275 ???(config below)

Dude don't purchase GTX 275.It would be better if you get new quad core and motherboard.Your current card is good enough for your configuration.Except few games it can play all maxed out at full HD resolution.

Well i completly agree with many that you dont need to upgrade your gpu because there wont be a big difference, may be just 8-10% instead get a better CPU.

VX450 will do just fine no worries its a rock solid psu.you'll need a better psu only if you going for 2 gpu else just stick to your current psu.
