Guess we are not alone when it comes to data cap plans

Yes some cable wallas especially surrounding Andheri and Colaba provide excellent download and upload speed

Many places have worse data caps. I was in Bahrain, telecom infrastructure is very developed there but the cost of a 1MBps with 6Gb limit was for 14 dinars almost Rs 1700 n this was the cheapest on nation wide Wi-max network with so much packet losses almost always n horrible pings.....

This is bit understandable as both are amongst the post and exclusive areas of Mumbai and people really dont think too much while spending for such small things.
Also there are many small and big offices in such areas which need good bandwidth for trading(stocks) or other business. But they always dont consume that much bandwidth. Resulting in high speeds for other consumers of that area during non peak (non office) hours...

Overall the bandwidth story in India is terrible.... Lord help the ISPs with some wisdom....

If this was in Pune... I would even change my apartment to get such good speeds

I wouldn't - mine is always capped at 1MB up/down.

Except last night something of theirs went on the blink. Had no 'net all day.

Now I'm getting peaks of over 8MB/s.

For those familiar with 'that' episode of the 'Friends' series, I'm pretty sure it will go back to normal after my next reboot :)

^^ lol....
But its really difficult to judge how much speed / data limits is really enough....
I was last month complaining about the BSNL 3G speed being capped at 2MBps and today I noticed from my UTorrent Statistics that I transferred almost 300GB in last 31 days....
I dont think I ever d/l or uploaded so much data before...
I think that Indian FUPs (Caps) are still reasonable and there is always possibility of bypassing it under the context of customer retaintion or arguing with the ISPs. They give up most of the times...
One thing that ISP really need to pull their socks is the quality and realibility of connections... and their reach to far spread areas from the core of cities...

Well I was right, the speed did go back to 1MB up/down.

It is a little weird. When I switch it on after a long period of inactivity, I sometimes get stunning speeds. I measured 14 down/5 up at one point in time.

This is tonight:

I miss my MOL Ultimate+ 100Mbps internet with no FUP

Currently staying alive on BSNL 3G. Wondering what to do when the 6 month period finishes.

^^Showoff :p

So now the connection is capped. Always. They didn't slip up too many times :(

Except that sometimes when I'm downloading torrents, a peer with a 10.254.xxx.xxx designation will show up and push through the downloads at 10 MB/s or more. shows as a local peer in uTorrent and the client is btcache. Seedbox on the network?

Here, for example, is this morning:
