The Micromax A116 Canvas HD is everywhere. The smartphone is also number 7 on the popularity list on GSMArena. Having sold out their first and second batches within minutes and hours respectively, Micromax is seriously on a roll! It's only been a few days since buyers all over India have started receiving their fresh new Micromax A116 Canvas HD smartphones that a method to gain ROOT access has already been found! Well, in that case why should you stop from rooting your own? Here's how!
Micromax A116 Canvas HD

If you've forgotten the Canvas HD or can't recall it's specifications, here's a quick reminder.

Why to ROOT my Phone?

Rooting your device allows you to run special apps such as Superuser that grant root access to apps that require it. You can access your kernel and tweak it for better battery life or increase speeds for better performance (governers, schedulers).

Protection: Yes rooting your phone can add elevated layer of protection that apps such as Cerberus Anti Theft or avast! Mobile Security can provide only when rooted.

Remove Bloatware: You can remove those apps that are unnecessarily bloating up your device and clear up some internal storage, speed up your device, lose some unnecessary background processes, possibly improve the battery life of your phone as well.

Custom ROMs: Custom ROMs go a long way in improving user experience, often far better than the Stock and Official firmware can ever provide (also requires supported Recovery).
Disadvantages of ROOTING

Rooting voids your phone warranty. Don't send a device to the service center after you've rooted it as they might detect it and you will be void of any after sales support whatsoever. However, there are methods to un-root your device just as you root them.

Some malicious apps might gain root access when installed (side-loaded) and might cause privacy, performance etc. issues with your device.
Rooting your CANVAS HD

1. Connect your Canvas HD in USB Debugging Mode (go to SETTINGS -> DEVELOPMENT -> (tick) USB DEBUGGING)

2. Download the OFFICIAL MICROMAX A116 CANVAS HD Drivers

3. Extract the "Rooting Tool" named ROOT WITH RESTORE by Bin4ry v18

4. Connect your Micromax Canvas HD to your PC and let the ADB (Android Debugging Drivers) get installed

5. Now extract "ROOT WITH RESTORE by Bin4ry v18" to a folder and run the RUNME.BAT batch file.

6. Select 1 for a Normal device.

7. Continue with On-Screen instructions and check your Canvas HD's screen for a new Restore Option in App.

8. Your Canvas HD might reboot a couple of times, let it be.

9. After reboot, wait and then manually reboot your device.

10. Open up SuperUser and check for ROOT Access if correctly granted.
