I knew all this but just wanted to see what others thought. Why is it so that in India there is absolutely no iota of professionalism and ethics whatsoever when it comes to these things? Maybe it is the same abroad or I have high standards. ( I know I have). Whether it be a internet connection, buying a new rig or buying a shoe for that matter the first aim is to always try to fleece people.
I am yet to meet sales people who know their job and add some human touch to things.
I called up several "reputed" shops in Pune for my new rig, (shops spoken about here), called up a renowned IT dealer in Mumbai who has a website also and is present in this forum as a dealer( I guess you know who I am talking about) but the responses were pathetic.
"Why do u want to know the quotation over phone?", " I already told you the quotation(for a particular config) why are you asking the price of another component? and in only case did a sales person actually make any efforts to get back to me through mail and phone.
Well and the reputed dealer from Mumbai simply hung up on me when I asked him the price of a Mobo for the second time.
In all cases, all the shops immediately wanted me to buy something and force something down my throat. They didn't have the patience to listen to my queries or give me sound advice on how to best invest my money.
If you know something about computers before buying, good for you but if you are tech impaired then best of luck to you.
