I had shaved off most of the glue in the center also to reduce the thickness
Are we not supposed to clear that glue off ?
 
The 'glue' is actually clear epoxy protecting the chip and bond wires from damage and securing them from movement.
 
Tried again today
Left the SIM in lakme cleaner linked above . After 2 hours SIM was begging me to take if off . Completely cleaned . Peeled off like a banana skin . Fully working
Was backup jio SIM , now to get a new SIM on monday and try it out on primary SIM
Even the epoxy was completely gone , in terms of thickness cant get any lower . What you see in sides can be removed but whats the use as the center chip is thicker than the glue in sides . If i leave it in Lakme remover this will also get washed away

edit cleaned it more using the nail remover and tweezers and still works.
