Hello,

I am currently scouting for a laptop for development use. I will be working on iPhone apps, so I need one that can run Mac OSX without much trouble ( I am ok with some amount of hacking to get the OS to work ) .

My budget is 50k-60k ... stretchable to 70k if worth it. I could go for a MacBook Pro, but then its display is only 13'' ( for my budget ). But I am spoilt with the comforts of developing on a 24 incher display at home ...

My requirements would be :

- capable of running Mac OSX Snow Leopard with almost all hardware functional ( WiFi, Audio,Gfx ) .

- enough performance to do program compilations etc. ( Flash Builder 4, Eclipse ( Android ) , XCode for iPhone ), without much lag.

- A display with high resolution ( I guess min. 1366 x 768 ).

- A combo of small display laptop+external display( which I can install at my office ) would be fine I guess .

And yea, I have heard a few good things about running OSX on a Dell Mini 10v .. but I am not sure if it would be good for iPhone dev ( with small screen ) and also not sure if it is available in India now ..I guess I am open to suggestions about good netbooks as well.

Well, I'd suggest you go for the MacBook Pro. It's a pain to keep OSX running reliably on hackintosh hardware; you'll soon grow tired of finding out that the newest OSX broke something in your hackintosh build and then figuring out how to fix it again. The 13" MBP is a great piece of kit, you'll fall in love with it.

+ 1 ... 13" MBP is insanely responsive for most of the things, which will help you in your dev works.

With a budget of around 70k,MBP 13 is the ONLY option mate!If you are not into gaming no point spending so much on a windows machine, when your primary objective is to work on i os apps.I am sure you will love it,even with a dated c2d procy it does almost everything effortlessly. One more thing DO NOT BUY THE WHITE MACBOOK,get the basic alu MBP.

Yes,that is a good deal BUT you may face problems while buying apple care pack. All the apple retailers ask for the bill when you buy apple care from them(at least in my city)ebay is not a good option for apple care.It is seriously advisable to buy it from an authorized dealer(not the premiere reseller i.e imagine store,no bargaining with them)
