Hello,

I plugged in my 5800 to speakers yesterday and played some musik for sometime.

i suddenly got a call and the ringtone volume sounds like x2 sound volume than music.

i think the stock volume of music playes is very very less compared to ringtone.

any hacks or MP3 players which enhabnces volume? or should i purchase earphone amplifiers?

(WM phones do have registry hack for speaker volumes i just wonder if it can happen for 5800)

Also it seems that all volumes (music vol, ringtone vol, on the call vol, headset vol while on call) are controlled by one master volume control. It is a pity that we don't have separate controls.

I think nokia has kept the music volume down. Is there any law/regulation that needs the audio device manufacturers to keep the vol level within human listenable limits (mean tolerable without going deaf). I have heard one news about Sony that, they had reduced the volume using software, since the earlier versions were too loud and harmful to human ear (on prlonged usage).

Oh but, this kind of music volume is not at all audible :bleh:

Any Hacks? should Earphone amp improve the volume?

no there r no hacks for the music output yet..
but I agree that the music output is way to lower than an IPod :@

Definitely!!! I've got the FiiO E3 and it increases the max volume considerably and also adds some nice thump to bassy tracks....

There are regulations on music output levels for some european countries. Not sure about india... but some APAC country might have it and Nokia would have limited the volume generally for all APAC firmwares.

Sony ericsson has a volume limit too...my w700i used to sound so much louder than w580i. But SE phones are hackable.... I dont think nokias have been hacked yet.

The volume output for sure is limited by software.

The ringtone plays for a short period of time while music plays for a considerably long time. I think Nokia has limited the sound to prefent the speakers from going bust.

On of my friends has the Motorola which has a hackable firmware installed. He installed the hack to increase output through the speakers. But his speaker started to cackle after a few days of intensive use and he has since then removed that hack.

And regarding music output through the earphone, I think Nokia is trying to save our ears :)

You are right about the ringtone and loudspeker part... It's not only Nokia, but most of the manufacturers do this. Music output to loudspeakers are limited more than ringtones due to the playback duration.

And regarding the music output through earphone, it's not Nokia who is tyring to protect our ears... they are due to government regulations in some countries.

Hmmn...sounds like regulatory interference in everything we enjoy....give us the max...we know how much volume we need, thank you.
