handycam repair in bombay

need a place in bombay to fix a sony handycam. it turns on everything works perfect but it cant record there is no image, guessing its the lense. now before my cuzin goes to sony and pays a bomb whats advisable to do ? pay sony and fix it or get it done from outside itself. sony charges around 1k just to check if u do not fix from them. if u fix then no charges just the bill that they give. what to do please advise cheers
 
if u stay around andheri there's a shop in Citi Mall (Fame Adlabs bldg) Andheri Link Road where u can take ur cam. I think the name is Citi Camera & is the same guy recommended by Alfa for camera repairs. Don't go by the name, its not a very big shop, guy repairs only cams & probably wouldn't even take inspection charges (at least I wasn't charged anything).
 
i would rather say that get the camera fixed outside.
there are a lot of shops next to CST on DN road which do such repairs. usually they willl check and tell you after opening the cam there.

that should be the best bet. jj mehta would also be nice if they do such repairs.
 
see i dont mind getting it done outside.

but in sony its the best place since parts will be original and safe.

jjmehta has a name and will charge 1k lesser than sony i guess

smaller shops i dont mind but what is the guarantee that they wont remove other original parts from the same... i mean after repairs how long will this work.

well, everything depends. in case you want total peace of mind, sony is the way to go.

but in case u can stand and wait till he repairs the thing (i hv done this once when i got my mobile repaired there and a friends camera) then well, i believe there is lesser chance of him being able to do it. he might still manage to do it all the same, but usually from my experience, if the guy is able to spot the problem, n then fix it, it stays fixed.
(btw, it might give u a heart attack or two, seeing them work the way they do. wat i felt was at times, he was just doing some calculated guess work :P )
