Storage Solutions hard disk or RAM problem?

okies , i have been facing a real frustrating problem right now..

it happend one fine day when i got a BSOD - driver_IRQL_NOT_EQUAL?? what this means?

now a few days after this incident.. my friend got his 120gb ide harddisk and i had to connect it internally cause my usb wouldnt detect it..
anyways after transfering stuff to him i reconnected back my optical drives and started comp.. worked fine until next day started getting the same driver_IRQL_NOT_EQUAL problem

then yesterday connected my friend`s sata hard disk to my comp.. installed windows and other stuff for him..
now after that its been giving me all sorts of problems
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.
The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume G:. (the chk disk utility completes the three steps but then doesnt go beyond .. i mean doesnt boot into windows.. only when i cancel it does it boot !)

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D.

The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur. (this error i get my both hard disks are detected , but midway the second sata 160gb disappears)

my paging file is 1534 mb. (1534-1534) on my d: partition.. windows is installed in c: drive.

pls let me know how i can approach solving this problem
 
The best thing that u cud do is take ur HDD to ur friends place...put it as slave and backup all data and then delete all partitions in the HDD and start the whole process again...

since it tells that ur file system is corrupt the best way is to start everything from scratch...
 
ya now to find a friend with a sata port! :(

lets see shall try a few things here and post back :)

(Currently downloading, so cant really do anything lol)
 
could it be a PSU problem??????????????

i disconnect two optical drives and one fan and my comp`s been working fine for half an hoour.. taken all the back up from the "problematic hardisk" whch doesnt seem problematic anymore!!!!
 
it hasnt been much stable.

finally installled winxp 3rd time..

doesnt work if i install it with my second hard disk conect.. had to reinstall when only the first hard disk and the optical drives were connected

the installed the drivers.. got an error right after installation of the nvidia ide drives.. removed em from the control panel(only the nvidia ide dirver) do i uninstall the whole pacakage and reinstall it again?

also one thing i have done right now is underclock my ram... to 333 mhz..

it really stable !!!!

but ya well will only post later. by then shal be installing software :)

btw formatted both harddisks .. and now copying stuff back ..

but i`m getting a problem as i type.

some of the folders on the 2nd sata arent copying on my first sata... hmm wierd.. will try after a restart again :)

how do i chk for PSU voltages??? excpet in the bios and the asus utility provided..
 
my PSU voltages seem normal....

12V - 11.80 - 11.94V. .that alright nah?

memtest didnt show any errors... ran it only once.. thats alright , right?

and sea tools shows me bad sectors!!! so well i think hard disk problem.. and its pretty worse i think!

cause not been able to take the back up of any thing!:(
 
Give the details of the affected HDD and whether it is under warranty.

Does the m/b have SIL sata raid controller ??

Are you using any software virtual drive for playing games etc ??
 
chked today the harddisks are under warranty.. :)

both hard disks got 5 & 6 bad sectors respectively..

As said b4.. i`m currently on the nvidia ports..

(OT - on the Silicon ports, do i have to connect hard disks only for raid??)

currently on the one that has 6 bad sectors.... just installed windows again... seems stable but well shaky .!!

the problem is that the bad sectors currupting my data.. intallation /other data etc.. couldnt take a backup b4..

everything i copied from the hard disk(well almost everything) seem to be copying well. but now when i chk its size is 0.0 KB.. :( ... which sucks!

should i give me hard disk to the service center?? i guess i`ll have to...
