Hey Guys Iam gona upgrade my hdd so can i get a list of hardisks available with capacities 120 & above and with PATA interface not SATA.

Can anybody help me out ?

List of Companies is as follows:

1.Western Digital
2.Seagate
3.Maxtor
4.Hitachi
5.Samsung

Prefer Seagate if you want easy availability and warranty..

Else for performance go for Western Digital or Maxtor.

Btw, If you are going for Seagate, go for those 8 Mb or 16 Mb cache models. Performance is much more..

OK here goes (not mentioning models other TE guys will help there :ohyeah: ) cause I've been using SATA since 2003...
seagate I don't trust their pata models...given trouble in the past and more than 50 i sold
SS are good, got quite a few 40 gig ss pata's...

I'd say go with an 80 gig PATA SS
other 3 guys weren't here in 02~03 (@ that time samsung and seagate were the only 2 HDD's available in Jabalpur) so I dunno abt their PATA drives.. SATA can help u..

he said PATA not SATA man...:P

I am using a Seagate PATA 120 GB 8 mb cache model.. The perfomance is pretty good and havent had any trouble now.. (Touches wood;) )

@ Vandal, btw, why are you mentioning about SATA here?? I thought he wanted a PATA..

I was talking abt PATA there.. I dont why this confusion would arise here??

If you are referring to the cache as not there on a PATA, there are 8 mb cache PATA models from Seagate.. (16 mb too if i am not mistaken..)

ok so can ne1 give a list of hardisks of the above companies (with their model no) with capacities more than 120 gb or more

If taking seagate like metioned earlier, stick with the 8 mb cache models..

If its Maxtor go for the Diamond Plus 10 series..

I found the Hitachi models very hard to find though when i was searching. Maybe more easily avail now.

Hope this helps..:)
