Storage Solutions Hard drive Freezing issues- Seagate 7200.12

Hi Guys,
I want to thank you in advance for all the suggestions.

I have a Seagate 7200.12 1TB hard drive. I had purchased it in November 2009. In my Rig i also have a Seagate 7200.10 160gb which is around 2 years old. My OS is setup on the 160gb.

The issue is with the 1TB hard drive... whenever I try to copy large files into the hard drive like around 40 to 60 gb, my pc freezes and when I say freezes nothing even runs in the back ground. the only solution is to restart the pc and copy the files in smaller installments. first I thought it was the OS, then I faced the same issue in XP as well as Win 7. please suggest.

Now I have a new problem along with the first one. Windows 7 wont boot beyond the windows logo with the 1tb hard drive. I restart it twice or thrice and when it restarts eventually, the 1tb Seagate is not detected. I tried restarting my pc once again, then I see the 1tb in the bios, but again windows wont boot. I'm not sure what's wrong...... if anyone faced this issue or is facing this issue with the 1tb Seagate 7200.12 please let me know... thank you again in advance.

I have done the swap, still facing the same issue. i have even swaped the sata ports to determine if its the port thats causing the issue...... the ports work fine as my primary 160gb disk works fine with the cables and the swap.

Test disk in HDD tune software for bad sectors and in Seagate tools for error ( RMA if error / bad sector found). Scan system with latest updated Antivirus.

A friend of mine bought a SG 500GB single platter 7200.12 drive on sunday, it died the next day, can't detect in BIOS!
