Hello,

First I had this problem with the inbuilt SB Live! 24 bit sound card. Then i thought, ah its a inbuilt card what do you expect, so i went out a purchased a 7.1 SB Live! 24 bit sound card (for Rs 2100/-) and still the problem continues. Please help.

The problem:

I am unable to enable hardware sound mixing in any of the games. I mean the option is there but as soon as I enable it sound "artifacts" happen. Like in Fear, I hear sound for like 20 secs, then a high pitches scretchy loud noise comes and then it goes silent.

In BF2 as soon as i set Sound Renderer to Hardware, the voices (ingame) start crackling.

Its not EAX as I tried it with both EAX on and off. Please help. I am using latest downloaded drivers from Creative website.

Although the SB live 24 bit doesn't have the hardware support that the ZS has (its a much lower version and also costs a third of the ZS)....

Now I feel that its something with the settings....if you've set it to EAX 4.0 etc then u may get some probs as far as compatibility issues....but equally it could be due to a defective driver install.....
sound drivers once corrupted will slow the s*** outta your rig.....they are one set of drivers u want to install with your eyes glued on the screen, and especially creative drivers are very volatile....I have 2 creative cards on 2 rigs (SB live DE 5.1 & a aud 2 ZS).....and their drivers have been reinstalled around 25-30 times....The latest drivers are OK though no buggies that I've found...

Coming to FEAR creative doesn't give regular patches for their cards and drivers and this game being real new may not be included in a driver patch.....so the prob may sort out as drivers become available.....
