Has Airtel finally done away with "UPTO" speeds ?

For the past 1 week or so, i have been consistently getting true 256kbps in day and true 512kbps in night. I am sure other Airtel BB users are getting the same. At first i thought that it was just an occasional gimmick by Airtel, but now since the speeds have lasted for so many days, i am wondering if it is something permanent. Whaddya think guys? Is it the end of "upto" crap?

Well its the same with Sify these days... from past One month or so i am getting a constant 256 Kbps i.e. 30-32 KB download speeds 24/7...

Looks like the submarine cable damage has been repaired...

AFAIK all NCR ppl never got true speeds until a few weeks back as i said earlier. If there are any, i will be surprised.

To me all this "upto" thing was crap. They had clearly capped the speeds to 200kbps in day and 400kbps in night. It had nothing to do with traffic, as they claimed. Atleast now they are starting to walk the right path. Next thing ofcourse which we all hope for is atleast 512kbps unlimited for 1k.

And yes apart from the in-between slump when the cable had been damaged, I too an average would get say around 28~31 KB/sec

BTW, anyone noticed a strange phenomenon - for the past few days, i have not been able to access ANY taiwanese sites :S (hope its not a problem with my connection alone)

@DCEite - Looks like it. Have been the case with me too for a couple of weeks now.

@Saiyan - Post this renaissance of sorts, speeds often touch 34KB/s (day-time) as well..

@Eddy - Both the taiwanese sites are opening here..

I get that speed only at night.

During day i get 17-19kBps

mee too on 128 kbps unlimited,
