Has anyone used Office 2010 Beta

Almost same as 2007 apart from the fact that all the apps have the ribbon now. Apart from that speed seems to be same. Some minor changes, but it depends on person to person if that changes work for them.

i have used it for almost month now. cosmetic changes to 2007 with some new features. its a good software.

It is a very fine piece of software, have used it sinec very long, but I ask you to wait till the 12th or so of April, the real edition is coming out then.

It's not real, but the RTM version, aka Release To Manufacturing, if you already have Office 2007, the 2010 does not have much advantages when coupled with the licensing changes that have been made
They have made it much harder, so unless you have your company buying it or if you are personal user, think twice before switching

Thanks for replies guys... but it seems not many people have tried the new Office. Seems odd at a site full of tech enthusiasts :(

I have Office 2007, but use Office 2003. Unless I want greater than 256 x 65536 in Excel. Hate the ribbon. And VBA is a pain too.

 i agree, i think it is because office professional is a boring thing for "enthusiasts". Imo 2010 is better looking and definitely faster than 2007.

yes i have and iam using office 2010 there are significant improvements made over the old one which makes it easy to use and it is also lite on the system

Okay, Hatter, how all is the Office suite used at your office/or your personal use. Sorry I replied to earlier in my previous post. Usage will differ.

Been using 2010 Beta on my laptop from the past month. Simultaneously using 2007 on my desktop. 2010 doesn't seem all that different, but it's easier to use in some ways. When you copy and paste something from one document to another you get 3 pictures instead of text for the options that let you paste with or without destination formatting.

It is akin to 2007 except few changes like sticky note, added highlighted file menu shifted just below its earlier position (left side), quick start and so on ....... By the way, I am member of Bizspark and having ALL MS softwares in original since inception of Microsoft :ohyeah:

Hi,

Am using it too from sometime and Liked the overall features !!

The New Onenote with printer features and PDF options are very very useful and handy !!

Overall I like it a lot ! previously was not so happy and had switched to openoffice ! but the latest openoffice takes forever to open and does a sloppy job in some docs !

Its Highly recommend !!

Regards.

I have been using it for sometime, particularly Word and Outlook. Outlook ROCKS. No doubt about that. Starts up much faster compared to earlier versions, and the conversation feature *does* work ;) Also the new Word is a delight for people who want quick templates applied on their documents.

The collaboration stuff, the main theme behind 2010, is pretty good, but I haven't been able to extract much mileage out of it, so can't comment.

If you're migrating from 2007, then you wont find many changes. But I can summarise major changes as

Excel 2010 has about 50 new formulas, mostly related to statistics.

Sparklines are sexy stuff, esp if you believe in the power of graphics and images or simply are an Edward Tufte Fan.

PowerPivot is an amazing Addin ONLY FOR EXCEL 2010. This can handle massive amounts of data. I saw one video handling about 18 million rows of data. This is a Business Intelligence Tool, and is an awesome addin

PP '10 has better effects, they improve on the 2007 base. There's a sample Presentation by Nancy Duarte in the PP 2010 samples, check that out, if you've installed 2010. It's an awesome presentation created solely in Powerpoint. Also, effects are more "unhidden"

PP now has video editing capability. I've heard really awesome reviews about that, though haven't used it myself. But inserting and playing videos is easier in 10 than '07

You can export a Powerpoint presentation to a .wmv video

Performance is much better and you can minimize the splash screen(useful when loading super large excel sheets)

The Office Orb(File Menu) has been replaced by a file tab known as the backstage view. I love the option to save to skydrive and PDF printing capability is given by default.

The tabs are seamlessly merged with the Title Bar. Themes are slightly different and are more sober looking. Better effects of the Title Bar under Aero for Win7/Vista.
