recently was transferrings songs from the pod to ma comp via winamp..and in the same time was playing songs frm my pod through winamp..was workin fine until i ejected the .. after tht the pod has stopped workin..just keeps blinking on and off with the apple symbol..doesn get switched on.. not being detected by the comp.. it's an 80gb pod the oldr version.. wht should i do??

whenever my iPod screws up (happened once only, when i switched it on and transferred songs to it!), i resort to the iPod updater software that came with the iTunes CD and which always installs along with iTunes and Quicktime. It's the 'restore' function that solves all the prob. it's like doing a reformat. so, hopefully u have the same software and therefore restore the software in ur ipod. or if u don't have that then get floola floola.com - Wiwi - Home and use the restore feature from floola. they work the same ways. but remember all songs in ur iPod will be lost.

iPod is not supposed to be detected on the comp!!!! if ur seeing iPod as a separate disk drive in the My Computer area then that means you have enabled the iPod to be used as a storage device. otherwise the computer will not show anything. Either when you have plugged in the iPod , the iTunes will automatically start or you will have to start it yourself. If iTunes in unable to access the iPod at all...then it is obvious that you are using Vista as the OS :D

Vista downloads an update which stops iTunes from recognising the iPod. I have faced this problem myself. I would plug my iPod in my frnd's laptop with Vista and the iPod would show as charging. But even if I would start iTunes.....nothing would happen. There would show no Ipod connected!!! That's because of this update.

There is a post on Techenclave somewhere abt this problem. Just uninstall the update and all will be fine. i found the following links:

http://www.techenclave.com/general-portables/ipod-is-behaving-strangely-111475.html
http://www.techenclave.com/applications/itunes-7-1-0-a-87400.html

Lemme know if i am right in assuming that ur OS is Vista.

it doesn't matter if it's an 'ahem' version of XP. I'm afraid i might not be of much help in this matter anymore. ur iPod doesn't get switched on!!! i suggest u take it to an iPod service centre. (i was reading abt some ppl with similar problems who solved it by throwing down their iPod on hard granite. but PLEASE do not try that.) please show it to the service centre guys. it may be a very simple problem and they wud know how to solve it.
