I am gonna buy an internal sound card tomorrow, that's why I am asking this. My cabinet is CM 690II Plus and I have a Sony XB300 headphone, which has a very short cord, which forces me to use the front audio socket in the cabinet, if I use the rear audio sockets of the cabinet the cable of the headphone won't reach my ear. So my question is, if I install the internal audio card then I will have to plug the headphone at back side of the cabinet, that'll be a problem, so could you guys tell me if it's possible to use the front socket with the audio card? I mean if I use the front socket will I have the audio passing through Motherboard or is it possible to have it passing via sound card without using the rear socket?
The card I will be buying would be a Asus Xonar DGX.

Thanks in advance.

There is a "Front Panel Header" on the card. So, instead of plugging the Front Panel Audio cable on the motherboard header, use the Header on the card.
In simpler words, the front audio panel on your Cabby has a cable going from it to the motherboard. Plug that cable on the card, instead of the mobo.

Hope it made sense.

Thanks guys. It's clear that I can use the front audio socket in that case, but users of DGX say that the front socket doesn't amplify as well as the rear socket, that's a deal breaker. Do you guys think an extension cable could do the job, I mean if I use it with DGX, like the Bandridge 3.5 mm one? Is it good, or will it hamper the audio output quality?

Thanks in advance.

Use an extension cable and connect to the rear socket. A front panel header will be running inside your PC where it will pick up plenty of EMI.

Can't the front panel extension cord be insulated from emf with help of simple aluminum foil and an insulation tape?

Extension cable won't hamper sound quality if its made properly. Whether you get a good piece or not is a hit and miss.
You can go ahead and buy the cable if you want.
Haven't used bandridge brand, so can't comment on it's quality.

Not an issue for headphones, the impedance of load is too low to cause EMI.[DOUBLEPOST=1371619758][/DOUBLEPOST]
I understand what you are saying but I won't/can't do that.
Any feedback on the extension cable?

FP jack and extension both will work fine.

Specific cables will likely not make a difference, but all sockets will wear out with time. Some slower than others. No way to tell by looking at pictures.
