Hi

I am having a peculiar problem today

When I start my computer, the OS freezes on the ASUS Rog screen
I have to press delete, after which the BIOS setup screen comes
I then exit without saving anything and after that the OS loads normally

I have not done any tinkering with the computer OS in the past several days and this problem has occurred today twice.

I thought this may be a one off issue but when i shut down and restarted, I had to follow the same sequence

I am having 1090T CPU
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula MB
2X 4 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit (Totally updated)
HX 620 SMPS
Sapphire 7770 1GB GPU

I shall be grateful if the members can suggest a solution.

Thanks for advising

One friend of mine faced the same problem and by disconnecting pieces of hardware one by one(first the GPU,then switching the RAM sticks to other slots) we found out that the issue was with the HDD.Can you get another HDD to test?

Disable halt on errors in the BIOS.
You've probably got some hardware that's giving problems. My guess would be the PSU or the HDD. Or just a faulty/loose SATA cable.

Check the CMOS cell, and all the hardware connected, press it down once, a bit firm. RAM modules, cable connectors (specially the drives), and USB connectors, and the 2 PSU connectors. The primary core supply rail and the 12V going to the CPU node. Also the GPU on the PCIE lane and its respective connectors. You may have chip creep. Else just remove all connectors and push them back in..!

Let us know.

In bios settings there should be two options at the bottom of the screen.

1)Load fail-safe defaults - select it and then press F10 key to save and exit bios.
Again enter bios settings pressing the del key and this time select the 2)"Load optimized defaults" and then press F10 key to save and exit bios.

This should solve your problem.

Thanks everybody

I repushed all the cables again inside the cabinet as advised by @asingh, and thankfully for the past 1 month, the problem has not occurred.

Thanks for helping
