I subscribe to the 384kbps UL plan, and my overall experience has beenpretty good. But ever since last week, there have been problems upon problems, or rather, multiple instances of the same problem.
Instance 1. Browsing and file downloading speeds were shit. Videos wouldn't load past the 10-20 second mark. Took 5 mins to open Gmail, FFS! Discovered later that torrent speeds were more or less what was advertised.
Engineers came, put in new IP address and problem went away. This was on Tuesday.
Instance 2. Worked fine all through to Wednesday morning. Then same problem again. This time, browsing speed OK, but any kind of downloading was ****ed! Was getting download speeds in bytes/ps.
So put in complaint, engineer came this morning. Checked connection, saw download speeds were crap, goes to an FTP site maintained by TATA and downloads a couple of files at full speed. Whereas all other files he tried downloading from a variety of sites got the same avg speed of 10-15 KBps, if not lower. Never went above that. Then he tries to convince me that there's a problem with the other sites.
Had to go to college so kicked him out, well almost. Browsing speed is fine now, nearly back to normal, but downloads are not.
What exactly is wrong? All bandwidth meters I've tried show varying speeds, but none that even come close to 384kbps.
The engineers don't seem to understand the problem.
