So, I'm selling my old system and building a new one from scratch. Right now i have
* EVGA X58 SLI LE Socket LGA1366 Motherboard
* Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz Retail Processor
* 6GB Corsair XMS DDR3-1333 Triple Channel Memory
* Hitachi 1TB SATA Internal Hard Drive
* Ultra XBlaster ATX Mid-Tower Case
* Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply
and an 20 inch monitor but i eventually want to upgrade the size in the future.
the above is a barebones kit from Tigerdirect.ca for $800
my question is

should i get the BFG GTX 275 for $250
or the MSI N275GTX Twin Frozr OC GTX 275 for $230
or lastly, the XFX Radeon HD 4890 XT for $230

note that i also plan on buying a second card to sli/xfire down the road.

thanks for your advice

I am using MSI N275GTX TWIN FROZR OC edition and this card is awesome and the cooler of this card is very gud, never went above 60 after playing game so long

I still can't declare any clear winner. What we do know is that, with the Radeon HD 4890 and its OC variant, AMD has succeeded in establishing a new standard for performance. 4890 OC draws less power under load than the GTX 275, but more when idling at the Windows desktop. The 4890 is physically shorter, too, which could be important inside of an especially cramped case.

i dunno why ppl consider dis minuscule change in power consumption..electricity bills n awl while buying a performance oriented card..it sounds like sum1 wants a performance bike like R1 n also wants mileage like CD100..lol :bleh::ohyeah:

now on some serious note.."4890 OC draws less power under load than the GTX 275, but more when idling at the Windows desktop"..dat's true so dere shldn't b ne thinking regarding power consumption as bth score 1 point over oder one..GTX275 has marginally better performance den HD4890 n also bth cards r available @ 230$ so GTX275 is a better buy
