HDD component supplier ‘collapses’ and 600 jobs will be lost, say reports

I would still say HDD should stay in business given how fragile the data is when it comes to recovery. With a drive going kaput, with the traditional drives, there is a little chance of recovery if the damage is not severe. Right now the recovery costs from an SSD is very high.

So unless those costs come down, the favourable option when it comes to mass data storage will still be HDD.
