Storage Solutions Hdd powers down

By default, Windows 7 uses the Balanced Power Savings plan, which will turn off the hard drive after 20 minutes of inactivity. Is this option good for the hdd or should i keep it always on?

it is good for the hdd, only con is that, if you try to access the hdd, it will take a few second to power on.

Especially good, if you have multiple HDD. And sometimes all Hdds are not used simultaneously.

@CA50- thanx mate. i recently lost a 1tb. it just died on me. lost some irreplaceable data. so taking all precautions with hdds now.
