why not run 2 sata disks in raid 0 if you don't have any reason not to do so ( like say looking to house it in an ext casing/constraints of putting 2 more disks in cabinet, lack of free sata ports etc.).

2 sata disks in raid 0 wud be blazingly fast.I guess almost on par or even better than the WD raptors.

2 HDDs in RAID 0 = u double ur chances of losing all ur data in a HDD failure. esp if u dont need the performance gain that much (referring to movies etc ;) )

cos i think he wants it anyway as a spare drive to increase his system capacity, not the main drive ;)

my 2 cents

^true. For capacity increase its better to buy as large a hdd possible that one can afford. It can be either branded external( like WD mybook/Seagate freeagent)/internal with a casing.

Wow. My 500gb is way cheaper then that-got it for 2800.......not exactly. I rmaed my 3 day old smelly 250 gb seagate sata and after 3 days accent frontline at andheri gave me 500gb. 250gb for free :-D

was it a mistake????

earlier they gave me 160 for my 120gb disc.....than i came to know all 120gb disc were having probs so free replacement to 160 that too certified repair???is that same of yours??

also frm 250 they shd go to 320 but 500gb u r a luky A$s..lolz

shd i give me 160gb disc and expect for 320 and than giv that too and ask more than 500 lolzz....

Well actually accel frontline is not a service centre. They send the hard drive to chennai and they send it back. What happened was the computer taken ages to boot and they used to get multiple disk error. All of a sudden comp just powered down. Didnt boot up. I removed my primary ide and tried to boot with sata. Didnt boot up. Tried on another sata cable, but the sata started to smoke. But no burn marks, one of the chip on the harddrive was mis aligned. When i got the new one, it booted pretty fast.

Arey i was asking why they gave 500giga to u dude.....if they giving so i too will go with my 160giga and ask for atleast 320 and which i screw it again in a week to get atlest 500..lol

Can anybody give me an update on current prices of the following in mumbai:
500gb Seagate Freeagent external hard disk.
750gb Seagate Freeagent external hard disk.
1TB Seagate Freeagent external hard disk.

& I am one One unlucky dude doing the Seagate rounds for a Good RMA replacements!

Got a replacement of 750 gb 7200.10 hdd for a 500gb 7200.10 hdd which i deposited for RMA(250gb Free), but my luck only took the worst turn & had the last laugh as the 750gb seagate one also turned out to b defective & failed the seatool test!

Now quering >>> will i receive another 750 gb or just a 500gb this time for my next RMA ??? ,RMA from- ACCEL Frontline

BTW, is the 7200.11 series HDD Already Launched in India ???,..coz i would then be asking for a upgrade to the 7200.11 series HDD then in the RMA

how much time do they usually take to get the RMA done ??..

ive got a 80 GB Baracudda ST380011A (IDE \PATA)

the HDD is behaving a bit weired at times..and the temperatures rise upto 51deg.C only after 10 mins of bootup..

the disk has already been RMA'ed once ..its a certified repaired disk ..and the last time i sent it for RMA they took 2 months exactly to return it cause there was no stock of 80 GB at that time..

so i was thinking of getting it RMA'ed again..

also can someone give me directions for Accel frontline from andheri railway station?is it nearby ?

or which is the best way to reach there from Vashi to get it RMA'ed ?? cause i think thts the only service\RMA centre of Seagate...

and congrats to all those..Lucky guys..who got gigs of HDD space free..after RMA..enjoy.

^^ I am NOT yet the Lucky Guy, i was supposed 2 be...have Not till now got a New "WORKING" disk, so, enjoyment is there-NONE!! :(

btw, any info,...of the NEW 7200.11 series being launched in INDIA or Not???

Then i would specifically ask for a 7200.11 disk in my RMA!

^^You cannot ASK for any particular model of hard disk. They will only ensure that at the minimum you get a equivalent model. Getting a higher model is purely based on your luck and availability of stocks for your current model.

P.S: Also, please stop using multiple colored text in your posts, it is very distracting.

They tell you that it will take 5 working days and thats how long they took for me.

From andheri you will have to take a bus. dont remember the number but i think it was 424 or something like tht. You will have to get off at stop called 'sangam theatre' there is a bank of baroda branch right next to the stop. you will have to walk along the road beyond the stop a bit. Accel is located in a building down a lane on the left of the road.
