Storage Solutions HDD Problem

Hi Friends,

My WD My Passport 250GB Portable HDD is not detecting form last few days.

Whenever it is connected the light starts blinking as there is some process going on and the HDD also spinns. The PC makes the "Hardware connected" sound but the HDD doesnot appear in my computer. Also whenever its connected Properties of My computer also Lag.

The HDD is showing in the BIOS but whenever its selected for booting, my PC boots from my primany HDD and Winxp starts.

What do you think is the problem? Today I'll check it with a new cable but it won't work I guess..

its working in Ubuntu but not in XP. Any way how could I overcome it?

you may have assigned the whole disk to ubuntus partitions.

did u tried in xp disk management?

backup all data from ubuntu to another disk and then repartition/erase the whole disk and create new partitions under xp.

try chkdsk /x /f /r <volume Label>:
inside cmd and check

Connect your disk to ubuntu and go to Disk Utility and repair it. It should solve your problem
