Hello Friends,

Suddenly from last 4-5 months P4 (secondary system) hdd stop detecting Seagate 40GB HDD IDE (using same config since last 5 years without single issue).

Some time it detects some time not, 8 out of 10 times (even bios too) fails to detect.

It's Seagate HDD use seatool, hdtune and NO PROBLEM So Far with HDD.

Change HDD cable (80 pins), no use.

Any suggestion what going wrong or need to change to solve the issue.

PS: Today first time system unable to detect DVD DRIVE (but detect HDD), I reboot system & it detect both :)

Thanks

Have you tried connecting Hdd to other computer to see weather it's purely Hdd problem or software issue.

Ps. Your issues seems more like software or bios problem as it detects randomly.

Hello gREen,

Not yet tried with other system as primary one is with all SATA port only :(

Using Updated bios from Intel (2007 version as no new version after that)

About Software issue can you explain/suggest little more? do I need to re-install OS?

Existing OS is running with ALL LATEST patches & releases.

There is no software or bios issue with 2nd System (where I face random detection issue) as another IDE HDD working perfectly ok with.

HDD check with another system & same issue found with that system too.

I wonder what went wrong with this HDD when SeaTool, HDTUNE & even XP installation didn't find any issue with SAME HDD :(
